The Easton Public Market was a project conceived by the Greater Easton Development Partnership (GEDP) to help foster access to local, sustainable food year round, in conjunction with the seasonal Easton Farmers’ Market. GEDP wanted a site that would be easily accessible via walking or public transportation, as well as large enough to host a variety of vendors that could provide an array of products to those living in the downtown area and beyond. The program combined elements of grassroots thinking, sustainability, hospitality, community connection, education, inspiration, and transformation.
To bring these concepts together, Artefact was selected to develop a design that would embrace the historic nature of the building, provide clean and concise spaces for working, learning, and engaging within it, and push retail concepts beyond the typical ‘stall’ of conventional market spaces.
