This interior renovation of the Pomfret Club’s Grille Room was sponsored by Joyce Mitman Welken, board member and longtime club member, in honor of her late husband, Lloyd Welken, Col USAFR, 73, who had frequently dined there.

Our team preserved the lounge’s fabulous red leather accent wall panels and bar front, as well as the black patent leather dining chairs, using these elements to guide the refresh of the bar top, bar stools, bar pendants, carpet, wallpaper, ceiling, and recessed lighting. We added new shelving at the bar along with bronze glass mirrors and a fresh coat of paint throughout.

Now known as “Lloyd’s Lounge,” the community mainstay has an upgraded look reminiscent of an upscale English pub, a cozy and elegant tribute to Col. Welken.
