The Commodore
Marrying old and new along a scenic riverfront

Artefact was the architectural designer for The Commodore, a seven-story, mixed-use building in downtown Easton located along the scenic Delaware River waterfront. Our design incorporated lower-level retail and office space, 38 luxury apartments, and a rooftop restaurant, with expansive windows offering sweeping views of the river and Easton-Phillipsburg bridge.
The client wished to preserve the historic front section of the adjacent Kaplan Building, originally home to a chocolate factory in the 1880s, which we restored and incorporated into the new construction. This adaptive reuse component of the project pays homage to a mainstay of downtown Easton’s past while renewing it with contemporary purpose.
